Total Touch Competitions at Red
Wellington is currently operating under the red level of the COVID Protection Framework (Traffic Light system). To enable touch to played in a safe environment and comply with the guidelines and regulations set upon us from:
- New Zealand Government
- Sport NZ
- Touch NZ
- Wellington City Council
- Nuku Ora
- Upper Hutt College (where appropriate)
Total Touch Junior Modules under the red traffic light setting. Total Touch are committed to get some touch happening for the children who seem to be having everything cancel on them left, right and centre. However we also need to take in to consideration our responsibility to the community to reduce the possibility of transmission of COVID-19 (omicron variant especially) and keep our children and their whanau safe. Therefore the season will be delivered as described below:
Fraser Park, Hutt Park and Wakefield Park
No Year ½ touch for Term 1 due to the number of spectators/parents who attend the fields with this age group.
Grades will alternate weeks and play double headers e.g. Week 1, 3 and 5 = Grades ¾ and 7/8 girls & mixed Week 2, 4 and 6 = Grade 5/6 and 7/8 boys- we see this as a way to reduce people at the park and possible transmission. The format will be confirmed once teams are confirmed after registrations close.
Team register as normal for $165 per team. $45 of this is non-refundable to cover staff, admin and equipment purchased for a compliant competition.
We will assess the situation week by week with respect to the Covid numbers, viability etc and for any cancelled games due to the red light traffic system we will refund your team $20.
Each team is allowed 2 adults in support to join them on their field. It is ESSENTIAL that teams use the correct entries and exits from their field bubbles and that coaches and managers are aware of these. I will update the maps for Managers Meeting.
NO SPECTATORS on the field areas. Please for the safety of the community and the viability of this sport and competition, please stay in the car park area socially distancing or organise car pools to reduce the number of adults at the parks.
The mandate on masks is that is compulsory at community sport when not playing. We are seeking clarity on the age group that this requires to.
Upper Hutt
We are still waiting on confirmation from Upper Hutt College regarding their requirements and if we can operate on the college grounds this term. I will update you as soon as possible.
When we get the go ahead please see the above notes for Fraser Park etc as to how this module will operate.
Alex Moore Park
Due to the size of this module and the fact that under Level 2 we had no issues with spectator numbers, this module will run as normal over 6 weeks and include Year ½ teams with the same offer of refunded games for red traffic light cancellations i.e. Team register as normal for $165 per team. $45 of this is non-refundable to cover staff, admin and equipment purchased for a compliant competition. We would assess the situation week by week with respect to the Covid numbers, viability etc and for any cancelled games due to the red light traffic system we will refund your team $20.

VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS
To be able to deliver touch rugby to our community, Total Touch needs to operate as a vaccine passport compliant event. This means that all supporters, players, volunteers and staff who are 12 years and 3 months+ need to have a vaccine certificate. This information for players and the 2 supporting adults be will collected by your school and may be checked at the fields by Total Touch staff. Please have your vaccine passport on you at all times if you are at a Total Touch competition.
A lot of mahi and extra expenses went into Term 4 and will go into Term 1 as well, we want to ensure we do the best possible by the children, their families and our own staff as well.
(PLEASE NOTE MAPS WILL BE UPDATED ASAP)
